Description

The Keating 4186 Thermopile 36" 2-Lead 250-750 mV is a part that is designed to generate millivolt electrical output from a standing pilot flame in gas-powered commercial cooking equipment. Featuring a 36" lead configuration with two electrical connections it converts heat energy into voltage used to operate gas valves and safety control circuits. This component is commonly installed in fryers, griddles, ovens, and other foodservice appliances that rely on pilot ignition systems. Within the appliance the thermopile supports flame sensing and gas flow regulation by supplying the electrical signal required for proper burner operation and safety shutoff operations during normal equipment use.

Dimensions:

  • Weight: 0.2 lbs
  • Length: 3.5 in
  • Height: 1 in
  • Width: 2.5 in

Step1: Turn off gas supply safely and allow burner to cool completely before starting.

Step2: Remove access panel and disconnect old thermopile leads from gas control valve.

Step3: Unscrew and remove old thermopile from pilot bracket.

Step4: Install new thermopile in same position, secure bracket, route leads carefully.

Step5: Reconnect leads to gas valve terminals, restore gas, light pilot and check stable millivolt output.

  • What maintenance is required for the Generic 4186 Thermopile MV?

Keep the thermopile clean and free from soot or debris to ensure accurate millivolt output. Inspect wire connections for corrosion or looseness regularly. Ensure proper flame contact and alignment, and replace if readings become inconsistent or unstable.

  • What are common issues with the Generic 4186 Thermopile MV?

    • Weak or no millivolt output due to worn thermocouple junction.
    • Intermittent pilot light signal.
    • Corroded or loose wire connections.
    • Failure to detect flame causing shutdown.
